Words to live by---

These 3 things remain true to the "Journey of Autism". Anyone or everyone can advise you;

ULTIMATELY you MUST go with what you feel is right. "GO WITH YOUR GUT."

Once you have arrived at this decision; "NEVER GIVE UP"!

LASTLY "Ya Gotta do, what Ya Gotta do!"

QUALITY OF EVERYDAY LIVING

I HOPE I AM NOT REPEATING MYSELF BUT I FEEL COMPELLED TO PUT THIS OUT THERE.  MY SON WHO IS ON THE DOWN SIDE OF SCHOOL -VERY CLOSE TO GRADUATION-PROBABLY THE NEXT YEAR OR SO IS IN A PLACE WHERE EACH AND EVERY PARENT AND CAREGIVER IS GOING TO BE SOMEDAY WHEN THEIR LITTLE CHILDREN GROW UP AND STILL NEED CARE AND ATTENTION THAT A "NEURO TYPICAL"CHILD WILL NOT NEED.

WE HAVE TO PREPARE OUR KIDS TO BE ABLE TO COPE IN THE COMMUNITY  AND BY THE SAME TOKEN WE HAVE TO PUT THE COMMUNITY ON NOTICE THAT OUR KIDS WILL BE OUT THERE AND NEED TO BE ACCEPTED AND POSSIBLY ACCOMODATED.  AND THERES ONLY ONE WAY- - EXPOSURE - -  DONT LOCK THEM AWAY WHATEVER THEY CAN TOLERATE  GET THEM OUT THERE

I KNOW IT'S A CHALLENGE BUT ITS A QUALITY OF LIFE THING. THE OTHER THING ON MY MIND ALONG THIS THOUGHT IS GENERAL HARMONY IN YOUR HOME  AND AS DIFFICULT AS IT CAN BE  I CANT STRESS ENUF HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR EVERYONE.

WE HAVE TO REALIZE THAT WE WILL ALWAYS PRAY FOR A SOLUTION TO AUTISM AND CELEBRATE IN THE STREETS IF IT EVER HAPPENS BUT THE SIMPLE FACT IS THAT OUR KIDS WILL MOST LIKELY LIVE WITH AUTISM THE REST OF THEIR LIVES  SO ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO SEIZE THE DAY  AN FOCUS ON ACCOMODATING OUR DAILY LIVES LIVING WITH AUTISM   WATCH YOUR CHILD   LISTEN TO YOUR CHILD   MAKE IT AS PEACEFUL AND SIMPLE AS YOU CAN. KNOW WHAT YOU CHILD NEEDS KNOW WHAT YOUR FAMILY NEEDS AND TRY TO FIND A HAPPY MEDIUM BETWEEN THE TWO !  PICK YOUR BATTLES WITH THE AUTISM AND BEHAVIORS  DECIDE WHICH ONE YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH OR TOOLS TO DEAL WITH AND LET THE OTHERS GO---FOR NOW YOU CAN ALWAYS COME BACK TO IT. YOUR CHILD WILL GROW AND BLOSSOM AND CHANGE EVEN WITH BEHAVIORS  BUT REMEMBER WHEN YOU CONQUER ONE ANOTHER WILL COME AND TAKE ITS PLACE   STICK TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS RIGHT AND DONT EVER LET ANYONE MINIMIZE WHAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR GUT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD .BY THE SAME TOKEN TRY TO KEEP LIFE AT HOME AS WELL AT SCHOOL SIMPLE . WE ALL LIVE IN THIS KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES TYPE WORLD AND I THINK ITS SO EASY TO GET CAUGHT UP IN WORRYING ABOUT WHAT YOU DIDNT DO OR YOU THINK SOMEONE ELSE WANTS YOU TO DO.  MOST IMPORTANTLY DONT BEAT YOURSELF UP IF YOU DONT GET SOMETHING DONE OR YOU DONT TRY EVERY TREATMENT. BE PROUD OF YOURSELF FOR JUST LIVING WITH AUTISM AND MAKING IT WORK ...HOWEVER YOU CAN !
